Games Exception Raised The Sims 3 Mac Create A Sim Free
- Apr 07, 2012 Create-A-Sim Mode It all begins and ends here: your decisions on how your Sim looks and acts will have repercussions for its entire life and will affect all the Sims around it. Creating that perfect Sim with that perfect look is extremely important.
- Are you getting the exception raised error? If so, see the tips below. Tips for Mac simmers Unfortunately a lot of TS3 players encounter problems when playing the game on their Mac. These can include crashing and freezing. A lot of these issues can be avoided or at least improved by the following measures. Firstly, manually reset your RAM while playing.

- edited August 2011Yeah, I think this must be a Mac problem because it's happening to me as well, and I play my Sims 3 on a MacBook Pro. I used to only get it when I tried to view my Sims' scrapbooks in Generations, so avoiding the scrapbook feature kept the 'exception raised' error from occurring. However, just now I got the error message and nothing even remarkably special was happening; I think my Sim was just sitting on the couch watching t.v. Will try deleting the cache files and see what that does. It's just the most frustrating thing, not knowing when your game is going to crash and delete ALL of your progress. Grrrr!!
- edited August 2011I'm glad to know I'm not alone in 1. Being super ****** at Sims 3/EA and 2. Not knowing why the hell this happens. You guys are so right about Sims 3 having way too many problems, I had just started playing Sims 2 again last week! It's incredibly frustrating, this message used to just pop up randomly during game play and i would restart and it would be fine, but now I have to wait a **** 20 minutes loading my family and it crashes before it reaches the game, with this message. AND YES, I am on a Mac. It must be.
PRETTY MUCH DONE ALL TOGETHER WITH SIMS 3. THANKS FOR STEALING MY MONEY. :x - edited August 2011My exception error only happens after installing generations, it was a digital download i bought from gametree, it basically stops the game working. EA have said if I send in the receipt they will send me a brand new copy but am I going to get the same problems!?
- edited August 2011SO TICKED ABOUT THIS. its seriously awful. EA needs to get their **** together.
- edited August 2011Just a little update.. well atleast up to late night is working now but after installing Gen it brings up the EA secuROM thing to check the serial key then brings up the exception error at 0x8000000 at 0x000000 or what ever! Well hopefully my free copy arrives quickly.. should I complain to gametree too?
- edited August 2011Wow. The first complaint about this was posted in 2009. Problem still there. I am certainly not buying any more EA products unless I check forums first to see whether there is a fix for it yet.
This error happens for me even when I did not install any CC, or any expansions. It happens whenever I install any patch updates to the base game or any expansions.
So I can play sims ONLY if I play the base game in its EARLIEST version. That's IT. Otherwise this error happens. - edited August 2011I have been getting this error and keep getting this error since I installed Generations. Patching (YES - even the MAC PATCH) and getting Town Stuff Did not help or change either. It happens very randomly.. Like I can play for hours and not have it happen and then sometimes I can only play a few minutes and then it happens and then when I try to replay it happens again quickly.
I have tried deleting the logs stating the error in the game. I have deleted my 4 caches - this seems to help (sometimes) but others times not so much. It is very frustrating and NO GURU will help you with this - because they cannot figure out what the error is either. They are totally clueless and are no help at all. They are just as baffled as us players - which is not good because the GURUS are supposed to be the experts. THE GURUS WON'T EVEN RESPOND TO THE ISSUE BECAUSE THEY JUST DON'T WANT EVERYONE TO HERE WHAT WE ALREADY KNOW - THEY HAVE NO CLUE HOW TO FIX THIS AND ARE INCOMPETENT.
Good luck with this and hopefully someday I can play my game again without the fear of getting an exception Error and losing everything I worked hard to play with OR have to go through Painfully long SAVES every 5 minutes of playing (with still having a chance of this stupid error showing up before I get the chance to save the game again.) :x - edited August 2011My exception error only happens after installing generations, it was a digital download i bought from gametree, it basically stops the game working. It may or may not..I installed from the Generations disc and ever since I've done that, I've been getting that annoying error!
Once in a while I won't get it, but most of the time I do get it. =l - edited August 2011after the patch my generations disk said something like can't authorize this disk please contact customer service. I did that and we went through a ton of steps..i had to take a picture of my game, mydisk, and the reg code thing..to verify I had the game. Then the guy tellsme that he is gong to put a digtal downld in my origins acct. So on to Origin I go, but guesss what! It is for windows only! What are we supposed to do? I downloaded the patchfor generations right when it came out(after installing the game) So I uninstalled generations because my game wouldn't even start because of the disc error. I still have yet to get a viable solution from EA, why don't they just send me a new disk???? Anyone know anything about origin, and the future of the sims 3 and us mac users? I am soooooo peeved! by the way I still get the debug error every once in a while. Would a new disk even help me? someone, anyone please help!
- edited August 2011Its because EA don't produce the digital download copies for Mac, I had to argue for like 5 minutes that they are in existence! The guy I spoke to basically said. oh so we do um well there's not much I can do because I don't know anything about Mac.. wonderful! I'm pleased up to Generations works but I am so angry that I've shelled out money and I can't even play the frickin' game! EA hurry up and sort it out!! :evil:0
- edited August 2011I also have been getting errors since the generations patch. Half the time (or more) the game runs alright (you know besides the fact that both the launcher and a family take ages to load and my sims occasionally like to take forever to do something). Then the errors started to happen. And these all occurred after my game had started up which takes forever. First it was the disc authorization error. I would quit out and start again which worked (however took forever). Then today I was playing and after a few hours of playing without saves the game quit to the desktop and gave me that error. It could be custom content but I've only been getting these problems since the patch so..

who else here misses the good old Maxis days? - edited August 2011How do I recover my home I saved in the Sims 3 that seems to have disappeared from the lot after I crashed?
Its weird, I was building my home, I saved it and five minutes after I saved it and continued building the game crashed, and asked me whether or not I wanted to debug it, I said no. When I loaded the game back up my home which was 40x40 disappeared and is no longer on the plot of land in Twinbrook. So then when I tried to put another 40x40 grid down it when red which mean't I couldn't put it there anymore. So this leads me to believe my home is still there but invisible. How do I get it back? I'm on a MacBook Pro btw. This is very frustrating because I spent 3 days on it and I really love this home I built from the ground up. Can someone please help me? If i continue to keep running into problems, I may consider never purchasing products from EA again, because why should I pay money for a game that keep erasing my work after I saved it. - edited August 2011I'm only getting this error with CC. After I took all of my CC out of the mod folder, it worked. I'm missing my CC, since I don't want to create a sim, then have to remake them once I get to use my Create-A-Sim mods again.
C'mon, EA, get your 🌺🌺🌺🌺 together, please! I haven't had any problems until these last two updates, and they aren't just problems that one can shrug off. - edited August 2011i am beyond annoyed with this glitch or whatever!
i must have refurnished my house 40 times already to have this stupid thing pop up and delete everything i've done!
and i've tried everything everybody has posted to try and do on here, and nothing has worked. and i know for a fact its not my computer, because i haven't even had my new macbook pro for a week!
things worked fine before i was forced to update my game. ):
and to think i was just about to go spend over $90s on pets and generations! -____-
EA, you better do something quick, because you're loosing out on a ton of money from not only myself, but many other angry customers.

I wonder if they will ever figure out how to fix this, It is very frustrating when you're on the game and it all of a sudden pops up. here are some of the emails that have gone back and forth between EA and myself I have only posted the most recent because those are ones that matter and can be a source of hope for us mac users, please start at the bottom and read your way to the top. i have had problems with disc auth errors and 'unexception error do you want to debug?' eveyone knows either way the game crashes. i really hope this is all true.

Hello Atreyough,
Thanks for getting back with me so quickly. With Barnacle Bay and Riverview, you say that they don't show up anymore even though they are installed. Does this mean that they both showed up in your game in the past? If so, do you happen to know when exactly they disappeared? I apologize for all the questions; I am currently testing both Riverview and Barnacle Bay on our Macbook here in the office and am trying to reproduce what happened and then resolve it.
I am sorry to hear that those three houses of yours became corrupt in some way and unplayable. I have been playing the Sims since the original Sims game came out and know full well how frustrating it is to lose a house that you have been working on. I spend most of my time decorating houses in The Sims 3 since it has such elaborate color options. The update for the game that the Sims team is working on will resolve multiple issues for Mac users. The most helpful part of the patch is that it should resolve many crashing errors for Mac users who have one of two video cards. One of the video cards is the 9400m which is what your computer has. This is one reason why I am hopeful it will resolve not only the disk issue, but also the crashing issue.
I will go ahead and send you The Sims 3 and The Sims 3 Generations game disks in the mean time so you don't have to wait as long however. Please provide me with your shipping address and I will get our warranty department to send the games out to you as quickly as possible.

Thank you for the information about the fact that you will be handeling this
alone and also that EA has not turned a blind eye to us mac users. I am
able to install via launcher(barnacle bay) but it dosent show up in my game
anymore, neither does riverview. As far as what games I have the only discs
I have are high end loft stuff, and generations, all the others were digital
downloads from EA or Gametree. I don't have fast lane. As far as town life
goes, I really did want to get it but with all of my problems what would be
the point? I am so worried that I will have problems with pets as well(when
it is released) I also have the sims medieval which I have had ZERO issues
with thank god! I haven't played it all that much lately do to trying to
get the sims 3 working properly.
I do agree that the 1.24 patch threw another wrench in my game(disc auth
error) the initially patched generations 1.22 I believe it was, has really
caused a lot of crashing via the 'exception caught error do you wish to
debug?' No matter if you hit yes or no it crashes to desktop. Deleting
some of the cache files seems to help..SOMETIMES but this error is so
random, sometimes gameplay is uninteruppted for hrs, other times minutes.
This is very frustrating because you lose all that progress, I save and save
and save often! I still lose progress though. Lastly 3 beautiful houses(I
must say) that I worked so hard on suddenly became'unplayable' where on the
main menu the family and house should show up from your saved game, but
instead is all white with dotted outline of a generic family and house.
There were no .bad files under saved games to delete either. I guess I will
never see those again these are the main problems/ glitches I am
having..I am sure I forgot to mention a few, but...
Thank you for reimbersing me for BBay however will it ever work again on
mac? I would really appreciate it if you would send me those hard copies
(discs) because who knows how much longer I am going to have to wait for the
patch you say is coming this week or next, so if it dosen't help me, that is
just more waiting to play a game I already purchased but cannot even play
due to errors on EA's part. You and I both know I have already had to wait
entirely to long. Please let me know more about what I am to expect with
this patch, and why it would hurt to OVERNIGHT the new disc? I really am
tired of waiting. Sincerely, Atreyough

Hello Atreyough,
Your issue has been forwarded to me and I will stay with you until the issue is resolved. I apologize about the troubles that you have had with the previous agents. There are times where support tickets are handled by different agents if the original agent is not working. However I will make sure that I am the only person who assists you from now on to lessen the confusion.
First let me address your concerns about Barnacle Bay. Are you able to download the content to the game launcher, but not install it? Or were you able to install the content (shows under installed content in the game launcher) but it doesn't show up in the game? I would like to completely clarify that just to be sure. For all of the troubles that you have gone through with these issues I have gone ahead and refunded you the cost of Barnacle Bay. You will see the additional Simpoints added to your account the next time you visit The Sims 3 Store.
Now in regards to the Disk Authentication error, I would also like to clarify on this a bit if possible. It is my understanding that you have the digital download of the base Sims 3 game (From the EADM/Origin), and that you have all expansions and stuff packs (as disks) installed. Please let me know if this is not correct. The Sims team has been researching some issues affecting Mac users and hope to get some issues resolved in a patch. The patch should be released here in the next week or so. While I do not want to leave the issue at that, it does seem to be something to do with this most recent patch (1.24) that is causing the issue since it was not occurring before that. So what I would like to do if it is alright with you, is to wait until this next game update comes out. If the issue still occurs after that update is installed, I will then get a brand new copy of both the Sims 3 base game and The Sims 3 Generations sent out to you. This way you can reinstall them using new disks as a new troubleshooting step as you have suggested.

I am sick of this happening I just spent two hours creating a new house hold and this pops up, and it's not the first time. With the amount of money that we spend on sims products and expansions I think EA needs to do something about it and fast! Not to mention I am pretty sure that if you make a game for a mac then you should be able to use it and all extra stuff for it, take for instance creating a world.
This is extremely frustrating and needs to be taken care of now! - edited August 2011I'm running on a mac as well. I get the error during build/buy mode. I usually get it when my computer begins to heat up.

Hopefully somebody can figure this out, or maybe EA will even fix it? I'll be annoyed if I can collect all these memories but not even view them. I haven't installed Generations yet, hopefully when I do (it is shipping to my house as I write this) the problem will fix itself.
EDIT: This is what I am talking about. Either choosing Yes or No is a crapshoot. It poops me straight back out at my desktop, leaving me currently with no way to view memories.
